Abstract

<PICT:0877009/III/1> Free chlorine in a chlorination process for cyanide bearing p electroplating waste is detected by mixing a sample of the waste with starch iodide and passing it between a lamp and photocell. Electroplating waste in a tank 10 is pumped through a pipe 29 to a chlorinator 30 and back through a pipe 33. A sample is taken through a pipe 11 and mixed with starch iodide from a container 14 in a sight glass 13. When the sample turns black the changed output of the photocell 21 stops the pump 27 through an amplifier 24 and a thyratron 25.
