Abstract
1,199,296. Chemical analysis of organic compounds. CHEMISGHE WERKE HULS A.G. 30 Nov., 1967 [1 Dec., 1966], No. 54557/67. Heading B1X. The proportion of chlorine, boron, selenium, mercury or other "inorganic constituent" in an organic compound is determined by submitting the organic compound to combustion, passing the gaseous combustion products through cooler 2 to vessel 5 which is supplied through pipe 4 with a liquid which absorbs the inorganic compounds, and then passing the solution and residual gas through frit 6 into automatic titration vessel 7. When chlorine is to be determined. vessel 7 contains two silver/calomel electrodes. The vessel 7 also has a magnetic stirrer 8, and an attachment 9 for connection to a vacuum pump. The gaseous combustion products atomize the liquid-absorbent from nozzle 3 into vessel 5.
