Abstract

875,536. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems; valves. REIS, S. Dec. 6, 1957 [Dec. 6, 1956], No. 38103/57. Class 135. Fluid supplied to the inlet 2 reaches an outlet 4 via chambers 11, 12, a duct 13 in a piston 6 and a non-return valve 14; when the outlet 4 is closed by means of a cock, not shown, in the line connected thereto or the pressure rises in the latter, the pressure increase in chamber 12 causes downward motion of piston 6 and an associated piston 8 against a spring 16 until the latter piston abuts a plug 20, in which position a port 24 is closed by piston 6. The pressure continues to increase in chamber 12 until it is sufficient to move the piston 6 relative to piston 8 in opposition to a spring 10, whereupon a port 25 is opened to enable pressure fluid to act on an adjustably spring-loaded piston 19 and withdraw plug 20 so that spring 10, which is stronger than spring 16, forces the piston 8 down until it uncovers a port 3 through which pressure in chamber 11 is relieved ; the pressure in chamber 12 is maintained because valve 14 closes the duct 13. When the outlet 4 is opened or the pressure therein falls below a given value the pistons 6, 8 return to the positions shown closing ports 3, 25 and opening port 24, so exhausting the fluid which previously acted on piston 19. The outlet 4 may be connected to an accumulator and the rod 7 of piston 6 on which piston 8 is slidable may be extended through the lower end of the casing 1 to actuate a power user, not shown.
