Abstract

874,844. Packaging. REINERS, W. Sept. 9, 1957,[Sept. 22, 1956], No. 28335/57. Class 94(1). [Also in Group IX] In Fig. 10, wound bobbins supplied from a winding machine 32 are packed into partitioned containers 38 after being provided with supplementary windings at 45. Unsatisfactory cops having been rejected, satisfactory ones are taken by a conveyer 33 to a point where they are pushed into the container by one arm of a bell-crank 36 operated by a cam 37, the conveyer being intermittently operated by a second cam 371 through pawl-and-ratchet mechanism. When one section of the container is filled, contacts 55, 56 are closed to energize an electromagnet 52 to move a link 51 into the position shown in full lines so that a projection 53 is engaged by a lever 54 oscillated by cam 37 whereupon an arm 50 is moved to bring another partition beneath bell-crank 36. Cam 371 also operates a link 42 in timed relation with the movement of the conveyer to release the pivots of the head 45. When completely filled, the containers are moved along to make way for another container pushed into place from the side. A similar arrangement is described in which fresh container is pushed into place from above.
