Abstract
874,714. Vehicle windows. PRESSED STEEL CO. Ltd. Dec. 3, 1959 [Oct. 22, 1958], No. 33729/58. Class 20(3) A frameless window glass 11 is. retained and guided within the inner and outer panels 12, 13 of a vehicle door by opposed pressure members 14, Fig. 3, each consisting of a rubber or like strip pressure pad 18 held in a metal channel retaining strip 17 fixable to a panel of the door, the pressure strip having inserted in its face a continuous strip slipper 19, Fig. 3, or a plurality of short length slippers 19a, 19b, Fig. 4, of hard plastics material such as nylon, the slippers having curved outer faces for bearing on the glass 11. As shown, the pressure pads 18 are separate units each mounted in its retaining channel 17a, Fig. 2, so that the glass is free to move in a fore and aft direction. The pressure applied to the window glass 11 may be adjusted as by a metal strip 24, Fig. 3, bearing on the back of the pad 18 and movable as by a screw 25 towards and away from the web of the channel 17. The slippers have longitudinal lugs 21 to hold them in the pressure pad. The two pressure pads may be comprised by the limbs of a channelsection strip the base of the channel bearing on the vertical edge of the glass.
