Abstract

872,234. Finishing yarns. CANADIAN CELANESE Ltd. Aug. 5, 1959 [April 24, 1959], No. 26805/59. Class 120(3) Apparatus for bulking yarn by subjection to an air jet comprises a yarn passage having a closable, lateral, yarn access opening (for threading-up) extending along its length and at least one air passage opening into the yarn passage at least in one relative position of the several parts of the apparatus in which the opening is closed. A nozzle A, Fig. I, is supplied with air through conduit 8 and has a tubular yarn passage 6 and slot 7 which may be closed by a removable plate 5. Another nozzle, Fig. 2 comprises a bore 14 in which a plug 15 may be rotated between a threading-up position in which a slot 16 is in line with a slot 17 and the operating position in which slot 16 faces an air inlet 13. In a modification, Fig. 3, a dovetailed groove 22 is closed by a sliding tongue 23. In the nozzle of Fig. 4, complementary grooves 27, 30 and 26, 29 form yarn and air passages when panels C and D are in register.
