Abstract
1,011,531. Burners. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Feb. 16, 1962 [Nov. 18, 1960]. No. 39770/60. Heading F4T. An oxy-propane burner comprises two lines of discharge orifices formed by an inner metal plate 12 having parallel grooves 20 on each of two faces, which co-operate with ungrooved faces of metal blocks 10, 11 of the burner body. The blocks 10, 11 and plate 12 are bolted together. The grooves in the plate 12 are of rectangular section and open at their lower ends into an aperture 21 in the inner plate 12. A gas mixture supply conduit 15 is connected to a main inlet passage 16 formed in the block 10 and opens into a transverse passage 17 which has auxiliary-passages 18 extending at right angles therefrom and leading into a manifold slot 19 adapted to register with the aperture 21. A further line of discharge orifices may be formed by having a second inner plate with one face grooved and its opposite face ungrooved and co-operating with one grooved face of the first inner plate 12. The lines of orifices may be straight, curved or in ring form. The burner body may be water cooled and carry a spray for water quenching heated work.
