Abstract

872,128. Transistor pulse circuits. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. Feb. 29, 1960 [March 4, 1959], No. 7004/60. Class 40(6) A constant current pulse generator comprises a pair of transistors 9, 12 in series with a common inductor 14, transistor 12 being normally conductive and transistor 9 normally non-conductive so that no current flows through the load 10 until a pulse is received from a blocking oscillator 1 which cuts off transistor 12 and drives transistor 9 into conduction. The constant current through the inductor 14 is thus switched through the load 10 for the duration of the pulse. In the system described, the load 10 takes the form of an input wire of a magnetic storage matrix. The monostable blocking oscillator 1 is normally cut off until a negative pulse is received at terminal Ur, when transistor 1 becomes conductive for a period dependent on the characteristics of transformer 2. At the onset of the pulse from the blocking oscillator 1, transistor 12 is cut off by a pulse from the tertiary winding of transformer 2 and transistor 9 is rendered conductive via capacitor 8. The constant current through inductor 14 is thus switched through the magnetic store winding 10 and remains constant until the end of the blocking oscillator pulse when the circuit 9, 12 is restored to its normal state. The biasing circuit for transistor 1 comprising elements 3, 4, 5, 6 may be replaced by a positive feed to the base.
