Abstract
870,671. Stud and socket fastenings; bolt-like pins; rivets. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. March 31, 1959 [April 1, 1958], No. 10922/59. Classes 44 and 89(1). A fastener formed as a single piece of synthetic plastic material for attaching a channelshaped moulding strip 5 to an apertured support 6 comprises an elongated head 1 for engagement over the inner faces of inturned flanges 9 on the strip 5, a shank 3 extending from the head 1 for insertion into the aperture 10 in the support 6 and a resilient finger 2 extending from one end of the head. The fastener is assembled with the strip 5 by inserting the head 1 between the flanges 9 and rotating the head into place, the shank 3 which is unthreaded passing through the aperture and being engaged by a self-threading nut 7 to secure the moulding strip to the support. An integral annular-projecting flange 4 is provided on the head 1 for sealing the aperture against the entrance of water &c. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), the shank 3 is in the form of a rivet.
