Abstract

The invention comprises 2-methyl-butyl-(3)-hydrazine and acid addition salts thereof; and pharmaceutical compositions thereof (see Group VI); and the preparation thereof by condensing methyl-isopropyl-ketone with hydrazine in equimolecular proportions and reducing the product, without prior isolation, preferably with hydrogen in the presence of platinum oxide catalyst; and, if desired, converting the product into its acid addition salts. The products are central nervous system stimulants.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise 2-methyl-butyl-(3)-hydrazine and/or an acid addition salt thereof with a carrier. Preparations may be in the form of tablets, dragees, solutions, suspensions or emulsions. The same salt-forming acids are listed as in Specification 870,581.
