Abstract

The invention comprises sparingly water-soluble acid addition salts of piperazine with 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid and with 1,11-methylene-bis-(2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid), the preparation thereof by interaction of piperazine or an acid addition salt thereof with the said acids or salts thereof, and pharmaceutical preparations containing the products (see Group VI).ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise, in admixture with a non-toxic diluent or carrier, a sparingly water-soluble salt of piperazine with 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid or 1,11-methylene - bis - (2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid), or both these salts, with or without a further active ingredient, e.g. phenthiazine. The compositions, which are useful in the treatment of intestinal nematodes, may be in the form of tablets, suspension, suppositories, salt-licks or foodstuff premixes.
