Abstract
The invention comprises pentyl-(2)-hydrazine and acid addition salts thereof; and pharmaceutical compositions thereof (see Group VI); and the preparation thereof by condensing methyl-n-propyl-ketone with hydrazine in equimolecular proportions and reducing the product, without prior isolation, preferably with hydrogen in the presence of platinum oxide catalyst; and, if desired, converting the product into its acid addition salts. The products are central nervous system stimulants.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise pentyl-(2)-hydrazine and/or an acid addition salt thereof, with a carrier. Preparations may be in the form of tablets, dragees, solutions, emulsions or suspensions. Specified salts are the hydrohalides, sulphate, phosphate, nitrate, perchlorate, formate, acetate, propionate, oxalate, succinate, glycollate, lactate, malate, tartrate, citrate, ascorbate, mono- and di-hydroxymaleate, pyruvate, phenylacetate, benzoate, p-aminobenzoate, anthranilate, p-hydroxybenzoate, salicylate, p-aminosalicylate, methane-, ethane-, hydroxyethane-, ethylene-, toluene-and naphthalene-sulphonates, and sulphanilate.
