Abstract
869,866. Vehicle lighting systems. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Dec. 23, 1959 [Jan. 24, 1959]. No. 43767/59. Class 75(4). In an arrangement of lights on a vehicle. especially a motor car, a light 12 is provided at each side of the vehicle at or near the front and rear ends respectively and adjacent the junction of the sides with the top of the panelling, the lights being carried by front and rear bonnet or like covers 2, 3 so that when these are opened, the lights are at least 1.7 metres above the road level and. in the case of a high vehicle on a level with the roof. The covers 2, 3 extend across the whole width of the vehicle and are hinged behind the lower edge of the windscreen and in front of the rear window respectively. The outside lights which may be flashing lights may be combined with inside lights 15 at approximately the same positions. The lights may be separately controlled or switched on in pairs automatically when the covers are opened. Single lights may be provided inside the rear covers and double lights inside the front covers. One at least of the lights may be connected to a cable provided with a separate switch so that it can be used as an inspection lamp.
