Abstract
868,968. Winding-in transmission cables. PETERSEN, G. A. M. July 30, 1957 [April 23, 1957], No. 24189/57. Class 78 (5). Two pairs of grooved bull wheels 32, 321 and 33, 331 are used to wind off cable from high voltage power lines. Thus, for example, a cable is wound round and between the grooves of wheels 32, 33, the slack end passing through guide pulleys 99 to be wound up on a storage reel (not shown). The wheels are driven from layshaft 41 through clutch 55 and respective chains 70, 71, said layshaft being driven from engine 35 through universal joint 37, multiple V-belt 47 and reduction gear 44. Wheels 321, 331 are similarly driven from layshaft 41 and likewise wind off a second cable from the power lines. Fig. 6.-In the event of the engine stalling paying out of the tensioned cable is prevented by coupling shaft 41 by chain 83 to brake 76 through one-way clutch 86. Clutch 55 (see paragraph 1) is controlled at 74 and brake 76 is adjustable at 97. Specifications 868,966 and 868,969 are referred to.
