Abstract
867,524. Hot-water boilers. VORKAUF, H. Aug. 15, 1957 [Aug. 20, 1956], No. 25815/57. Addition to 783,695. Class 64(1) A water-tube boiler is as described in the parent Specification, but where the rear wall tubes 8 bend rearwardly over the preheating coils 13 they are spaced from the roof and are drawn apart as at 12 to permit the throughflow of combustion gases. Instead of lying in the plane of the rear vertical corner tubes 3, Fig. 1 (not shown), the upper transverse header 6 may be in a more forward position, e.g. as in Fig. 2, near the plane of the wall of rear tubes 8, which wall is formed with a nose 16 projecting into the furnace 11. The collecting header 15 for the preheating coils 13 extends between the rear corner tubes 3. There may be additional large tubes 17 between the distributing header 1 and the collecting header 2. If there is a long furnace there is more than one tube 17 at each side, Fig. 3 (not shown), and the side wall tubes 9, Fig. 4, extend over the top of the furnace 11 beneath the front wall tubes 7 instead of being straight vertical tubes as in the other embodiments.
