856,880. Weighing apparatus. AVERYS Ltd., [formerly AVERY Ltd., W. & T.]. Feb. 25, 1958 [Feb. 26, 1957], No. 6341/57. Class 143. In an over and under weight type scale the weigh beam fulcrum 5a is located above the plane joining knife edges 5c, and the beam is connected to a torsion strip spring 16 by an arm 15, rigid with the spring, an arm 11 which is adjustably secured to the beam, and a link 14 pivoted to both arms. The over and under weight pointer 19 is carried on arm 15 and the spring is supported by a bowed carrier 25 embodying screw means (not shown) for adjusting the tension in strip 16. Beam locking pegs 35 are urged into engagement with the beam by a spring strip 34 and are released by pressure on a finger pad 34a; a catch 36 being provided to lock the strip in its lowered position. The poles 33 of an eddy current damping device are adjustable to vary the degree of damping.
