Abstract

853,038. Hair-waving appliances. CLAIROL Inc. Jan. 2, 1958, No. 167/58. Class 131 A device for cold permanent hair waving comprises a mandrel 23 depending from a stopper 15 for a tubular container 11 holding a treating liquid, the tress being gripped, resiliently, between the stopper and the container. The hair is held by a clip 27 and winder 28, treating fluid being placed, previously, in the transparent rubber or plastic container or introduced by a dropper through a slit 26 which also forms an escape for gas produced during treatment. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 for bleaching or tinting hair the mandrel 16 is an extension of the stopper 15, the tip being slit to engage the hair, a resilient closure flap 22 is provided, and the container is closed at both ends, by a stopper.
