Abstract

852,219. Endless track vehicles. TONSBERG HARPUNFABRIK A. S. Dec. 29, 1958, No. 41932/58. Class 79(1). The endless track 9 of a tractor passes around the main driving wheel 2 mounted upon an axle 1 and a tensioning wheel 8 mounted upon a link 6 carried by an arm 5 pivoted to the tractor frame at 4. Tension is applied to the track by a spring 11 acting between the link 6 and an abutment 10 upon the arm 5. A downward pressure is exerted upon the wheel 8 by a spring 15 provided to act between an extension 5<SP>1</SP> of the arm 5 and the tractor frame. Both springs 11 and 15 are provided with adjustable pre-stressing means. An additional spring 16 may be connected between the extension 5<SP>1</SP> and the tractor power lift link 17 which may be operated to increase the pressure upon the wheel 8. In a modification, Fig. 2, the tension spring 15 is replaced by a compression spring 15<SP>1</SP> acting upon the arm 5 and the abutment 10 is connected to a spring 16<SP>1</SP> attached to the power lift link 17 by a chain 18 passing over a pulley 19 and a pivoted arm 20 and a tension rod 22.
