Abstract
160,092. Middleton, A. L. April 24, 1920. Tension arrangements.-In tensioning-arrangements for belts, chains, &c. passing over wheels resiliently mounted on a frame, the chain &c. wheel k is carried as described in Specification 145,307 at one end of a lever a which at its other end is slotted and connected by a substantially circular laminated spring b to the frame f<1>, and the pivot e of the lever is carried either on an eccentric e' in the frame, on the end q of a link p, Fig. 2, turning on a fixed point p<1>, or in a block sliding in a fixed guide. A slot i in the lever engages a fixed roller h. so that, as the wheel k rises, the lever pivot e moves to maintain the chain tension. The bracket n carrying the pivot p<1> of the link p is connected by a rod o to a bracket m, the parts being adjustable along the frame members r, f<2> to compensate for a change of diameter of chain-wheel &c. carried on the pivot e.
