Abstract

852,034. Tumbler clothes driers. EASY WASHING MACHINE CO. Ltd. Feb. 24, 1958, No. 5959/58. Class 34(2) A perforate drum for horizontal mounting in a tumbler clothes drier comprises a rear wall having cone-shaped discs 2. 3, Figs. 1, 3, formed with abutting flats 9 which are welded together. A bored spacer block 7 for mounting the drum on a shaft 15 is located between the discs and attached thereto by nuts 8 which also secures a cover plate 25 to the disc 2. The disc apertures registering with the block bore 10 have internal Ranges 12 which provide part bearing surfaces on the shaft 15. A cylindrical screen 4 is welded to the rear wall and a front wall 1, the rigidity of the structure being improved by welding baffles 5, which are suitably flanged, internally of the drum to the screen and triangular flats 22, 21 formed in the front and rear walls, respectively. The screen edges are secured together by a ribbed strip 28, bar pieces 27 and associated nuts and bolts.
