906,720. Washing-machines. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. Jan. 23, 1959 [Feb. 4, 1958], No. 2644/59. Class 138 (2). A rotatable drum for a clothes washing machine is assembled from two or more non- perforated flanged sheet-metal parts, one or more of the flanges being locally deformed so that they are in contact with each other and secured at spaced-apart points in the periphery of the drum, the gaps between them providing passages for washing liquid and one of parts being connected to an axle for rotating the drum. As shown in Fig. 1, a drum 1 has end-plates 2 with a space J between their periphery and the drum with indented portions la engaging recesses 2a in the plates. The plates are connected to the drum by riveting or soldering. Different forms of drums such as biconical, conical or cylindrical may be made and one of the plates may also include a charging aperture. The passages J may also be arranged perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the drum.
