Abstract
850,267. Compressors. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES OF AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND Ltd. May 29, 1959 [Aug. 6, 1958], No. 18352/59. Class 8(1). A pneumatic pressure intensifier comprises a compressor piston 5 connected at both sides through non-return inlet valves 14, 15 to a compressed air line 16, a motor piston 6 connected by a rod 7 to the compressor piston 5 and having opposite sides connected through cylinder ports 20, 21 and a known control valve 23 to the line 16 and to atmosphere according to the direction of stroke of said piston 6 and means to reverse the piston 6 at the end of a stroke, e.g. a lug 37 projecting from the rod 7 and actuating one or other of release valves 35, 36 whereby connected pistons 28-31, Fig. 2 (not shown) of the valve 23 are shifted from one extreme position to the other. As shown the compressor piston 5 is being displaced to the left and forces air through a non-return outlet valve 17 to a reservoir 19 at a pressure in excess of that in line 16 determined by the relative areas of pistons 5, 6.
