Abstract

849,529. Cooling systems for hydro-dy. namic brake units. THOMPSON PRODUCTS Inc. Jan. 25, 1957 [Feb. 2, 1956], No. 2816/57. Class 64(3) [Also in Group XXXIV] In a hydro-dynamic braking arrangement for a road vehicle, a liquid-cooled engine 10 drives shaft 11 drivingly connected to an intermediate braking shaft 12 of a hydro-dynamic brake. unit 15 connected to the final output shaft 13 of the vehicle. The braking fluid used is of a non-volatile nature, e.g. lubricating oil or the like, and is provided in a completely closed hydraulic brake circuit such that the fluid enters the brake unit 15 through connectors 28, is forced through the unit and through a conduit 29 to a heat exchanger 18 in which it is cooled by the engine coolant liquid before passing through a conduit 30 back to the brake. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 725,140 and 736,127.
