[Also in Groups XI and XXXV] A mechanical clock-operated switch to switch a circuit " on " and " off" at predetermined times has a manually operated " on " " off " control 8 which when rendering the clock mechanism effective also sets a cycling switch control 7 to its maximum position. In position I the clock mechanism is ineffective and the circuit is completed through a separate switch (not shown). Moving the control 8 to position II rotates a lever 75 through a shaft 52 so that a plate 87 moves about a pivot pin 88 through a linkage 78, 79, 81 where it is held in the position B by a spring 89 urging the plate 87 against a stop 92. A pair of contacts 34, 35 are held out of engagement in this position by a pin 91. At the predetermined " on " time the stop 92 moves out of engagement with the plate 87 which rotates until arrested by a further pin 93, as shown in position C, hence closing the contacts 34, 35 due to the rotation of the pin 91. At the " off" time the pin 93 also moves out of engagement and frees the plate 87 which returns to the position A, the pin 91 again separating the contacts 34, 35. Turning knob 8 from position I to position II also causes a toe 75<SP>1</SP> on the plate 75 to slip off linkage 78 a heel 75<SP>11</SP> and the toe 75<SP>1</SP> engaging with the corresponding toe 76<SP>1</SP> and heel 76<SP>11</SP> of another plate 76 rotating the knob 7 and a shaft 74 connected to the cycling switch through its continuous output position. On returning the knob 8 to position I the toe 75<SP>1</SP> slips over the top of the linkage 78 due to the spring-loaded movement of the latter.
