834,118. Retaining elements for free relative rotation. BENGTSSON, S. W. Dec. 13, 1957 [Dec. 14, 1956], No. 38815/57. Class 80 (2). [Also in Groups XIV and XXV] The stem 1 of a lock handle is rotatably mounted in a plate 6 adapted to be fixed to a door &c. and provided with a bearing hole 11 to receive a bearing portion of the stem, said latter portion comprising a neck 3 with a head 4 which are divided by slots 5 so that, when engaged in the hole 11, the head portions close up to snap behind a shoulder 7 in the hole 11 and a shoulder 2 on the stem 1 bears against the outer side of the plate 6. The bearing hole 11 and the neck 3 are preferably frusto-conical, and a plug 8 of non-round cross-section may be inserted in a hole 14 in the stem to secure the head portions in their engaged position, an extension 8<SP>1</SP> of the plug being adapted to engage in a corresponding hole in another lock member (not shown). In a modification, the plug 8 is cup-shaped and is provided with slots to enable it to be engaged resiliently in the hole 14, and the shoulder 2 is provided with a locking tongue adapted to engage with a hook on the door &c. frame.
