Abstract

833,964. Tanks. SVEREMO A.B. May 23, 1958 [May 24, 1957], No. 16585/58. Class 69 (1). In a method of building liquid storage tanks above ground level, the roof 2 of the tank is built during an early stage of the wall construction and is used as a platform during subsequent constructional stages, the roof being supported by pontoons 3, 4 floating on water which is supplied to the partially completed tank and the level of which is adjusted to maintain the roof at a convenient working height as the construction of the tank proceeds. A stationary hoisting crane 5 is provided on the roof 2 near the periphery thereof for lifting and transporting plates 6 and like constructional materials, the hoisting crane being displaceable about the periphery of the tank by rotating the roof in the tank. The roof is covered by roofing plates in the regions near its periphery and centre portions. Welding machines 7 are set up at the centre of the roof. Cables 9 supplying the current to the welding machines and to the windlass 8 of the crane 5 pass through waterproof cable passages 10 in the tank 1.
