Abstract

1411898 Method of erecting tanks ISHIKAWAJIMA-HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 28 June 1973 [28 June 1972 25 July 1972 8 Dec 1972 17 Jan 1973] 30844/73 Heading E1T In a method of erecting a tank in which a portion of the side wall is erected at base level, elevated and has a lower portion of the said side wall connected thereto, the elevation is effected by gas under pressure. The tank is erected on a foundation I having a suitable bottom (2) upon which a ring of sealing side plates 3 is formed. A first-ring of sides plates 5a carrying a permanent roof (4) is then assembled about the plates 3 which is provided with rubber sealing members 7. The unit (4), 5a is then elevated by gas under pressure fed by a blower 11 and is restrained by wire ropes 9 connected to winches 10; a lower ring of side plates 5b then being welded to the plates 5a. For numerous modifications involving a temporary roof with or without drainage facilities; a balancing device to hold the floating part of the tank in position; a location post to retain the uppermost part of the floating tank in position and a modified method of erecting a tank of double-walled construction, the Specification and remaining drawings, (not shown), should be referred to.
