Abstract
833,882. Garment stiffeners. TRUBENISED (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. June 18, 1958 [July 22, 1957], No. 23105/57. Class 141 A garment stiffener comprises an elongated stiffening strip and a wider strip of textile tape &c. secured together by a longitudinal line of stitching so that the tape projects beyond both side edges of the stiffening strip. The stiffener may be secured to the garment by stitching through the projecting margins of the tape or by adhesion of the marginal portions; in the latter case, the tape may include threads of cellulose acetate or polyethylene or be coated with a layer of such materials. One form of stiffening strip comprises a strip of sheet rubber secured in stretched condition to a strip of plastic sheet material, the tape being disposed on either exposed face or between the two plies of the composite strip. The stiffener may be applied to the upper edge of a girdle or to either the interlining or back ply of a collar point. Specification 768,641 is referred to.
