Abstract

833,365. Chain gearing. MINING ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. July 18, 1957 [July 24, 1956], No. 22831/56. Class 80 (1). An idler sprocket 12 is formed with pairs of transversely arranged teeth 13 for receiving the vertical links 10 of a cable link chain between them, the horizontal links 11 being received between adjacent pairs and seating in recesses 15, 16 cut away in the teeth. The recesses 16 are deeper than 15 so that clearance is provided for the trailing ends of the links 11 when the chain is driving in the direction of the arrow. Clearance is also provided at the leading ends of the links 11 where they run on to the sprocket so that engagement is by the outgoing links only.
