Abstract

A light-resistant unsaturated polyester is the reaction product of 1 : 3-butylene glycol, maleic acid or anhydride and hexahydrophthalic acid or anhydride; the acids being in a molar ratio of from 0.1:0.4 to 0.4:0.6. Reaction is effected by heating to 160-2000 DEG C. and after reaction hydroquinone may be added. The polyester may be copolymerized with styrene using methyl ethyl ketone peroxide as a catalyst.
