825,977. Spring frames for motor-cycles; chain-cases. E. T. DEVELOPMENTS Ltd., and TURNER, E. June 6, 1958 [June 6, 1957], No. 18018/57. Classes 136(1) and 136(3) A mounting for the rear wheel of a scooter or light motor cycle which is sprung and is driven by a chain, comprises a hollow arm 23 which encloses and forms a chain case for the driving chain 19 and is mounted at its forward end for angular movement on a bearing 24 concentric with the axis of the primary sprocket, and a rigid outrigger bracket 36 bolted to the arm and mounted at its forward end on a bearing 41 coaxial with and spaced axially from the bearing 24 for the arm. The outrigger bracket 36 at a point intermediate in its length is spaced sufficiently far from the arm 23 to leave room for a vertical frame member 10 to pass between them. The wheel 22 is detachably bolted to a brake drum 29 mounted on the inner end of the rear wheel spindle. The rear end of the arm 23 is supported from the frame by one or more spring units 32 incorporating a compression spring 33 and hydraulic damper.
