Abstract
825,555. Cartons. BOXFOLDIA Ltd. March 18, 1957 [March 17, 1956], No. 8408/56. Class 18. A carton is made up from a blank comprising a base panel 10 connected foldably to end panels 14 to side panels 11, the latter being connected foldably at their ends to pairs of wings 16, 17 which are to overlie to be glued to the end panels 14. The pairs of wings are together equal in length to these panels and aligned to cover completely an adhesive strip on the panels, fold lines 18 at each end of the side panels 11 forming gussets 19 which enable the wings 16, 17 to be glued to the panels 14 while the blank remains flat. At least one of the wings 16, 17 is recessed as at 20 so that the peripheral edges of successive blanks interfit in the sheet from which they are cut. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) a lid with tuck-in flap is foldably connected to one of the side panels, and the end panels are also provided with flaps. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the fold lines forming the gussets only extend half-way across the side panels, their ends being joined to the panel outer covers by cuts, thus incorporating the invention disclosed in Specification 825,556. Embodiments may also be formed in which one or two of the four wings is recessed.
