Abstract

825,094. Hydraulic shock absorbers. ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO. Ltd. March 5; 1958 [March 12, 1957], No. 8057/57. Class 108(3) The hydraulic reservoir 5 of a telescopic shock absorber is provided with an enclosed air chamber which separates the air and hydraulic fluid and is of variable volume. The chamber comprises either a rubber diaphragm 16 (Fig. 1), closely fitting about the working cylinder 8 at 16a, or as described in the Provisional Specification only, a cylinde 18, Fig. 4, having a perforated bottom 18a and provided with an air cavity above a free piston 19 which is urged into contact with the fluid in the reservoir by a spring 20. Specifications 657,030, 709,204 and 709,338 are referred to.
