Abstract

824,777. Disc brakes. DELTA MOTOR RESEARCH Ltd. March 22, 1957 [March 23, 1956], No. 9223/56. Class 103 (1). In a disc brake comprising a hollow disc 10, cooling air is induced to flow through openings 26 in the side walls of the disc, leading into a central annular chamber formed between the side walls of the disc and flowing radially outwardly through passageways 25 formed by ribs 28 which constitute impeller blades. The disc may be formed as a casting having the interior passageways and impeller blades formed during the casting operation or, alternatively, the disc may be made of two parts of which one, or both, is or are formed with interior passageways and impeller blades, the two parts being integrally united as by welding.
