Abstract

823,522. Railway vehicle undercarriages. SPENCER, MOULTON & CO. Ltd., G. Feb. 23, 1956 [June 16, 1954], No. 17683/54. Class 103(6) A spring suspension for a railway bogie axle or axle box 4, Figs. 1 and 2, includes torsional shear sandwiches encircling the axle or axle box and formed of rubber rings 5, 6 and metal discs 7, 8, 9, 10 bonded to the annular faces of the rings, the discs being connected to the bogie frame 1. The axle or axle box 4 is secured to the outer discs 9, 10 having extensions 14, 15 bolted at 16 to a rocker 17 carried by a rubber bush 18 on a trunnion 19 on the frame 1. The inner discs 7, 8 have portions 11, 12 extending in a direction opposite to the extensions 14, 15 and mounted on a rubber bush 13 adjustably secured to the frame 1.
