Abstract

718,969. Bearings. ABBEY, A. (Aktiebolaget Svenska Kullagerfabriken). Jan. 19, 1953, No. 1551/53. Class 12(1) In a mounting for railway vehicle and like axles in which an axle 8 is endwise displaceable relatively to an axle box 1, a thrust bearing 15 comprising two annular members 17, 18 is provided for taking up endwise thrust in both directions, and resilient members 20, 19 are disposed between the members 17, 18 and a circular disc 22 secured to the end of the axle 8 and the axle box end cover 13 respectively. The member 17 is slidable on a reduced portion 16 of the axle 8. As shown in Fig. 1 the resilient means 19, 20 comprise rubber rings which are initially pre-stressed. In a modification, the rings are replaced by an inner and outer series of springs.
