Class 98(1) A photographic camera for flashlight photography has an auxiliary distance scale associated with the diaphragm setting member, and a flash guide member scale for setting the relative positions of the diaphragm setting member and the auxiliary distance scale. The camera shown has a focusing ring 104 with distance scale 105 co-operating with index 106 on a stationary part 117 bearing an auxiliary distance scale 115, an aperture setting ring 112 carrying a flash guide scale 116 and aperture scale 113 readable against an index 114, and a shutter speed ring 110 bearing a speed scale 111 also readable against the index 114. In use the camera lens is focused on the object distance which is indicated on scale 105 and then aperture ring 112 is rotated to bring the selected flash guide member into registry with the value on auxiliary scale 115 which corresponds to the object distance whereupon the diaphragm aperture that has been set can be read off from scale 113 and index 114. Movable pointers 107 coupled to diaphragm ring 112 indicate the depth of field on scale 105. In a further form, a meshing ring having a single window is rotatable over the flash guide number scale and then is a releasable coupling between the shutter speed and diaphragm setting rings.
