1,010,226. Viewfinder for camera. FRANKE & HEIDECKE G.m.b.H. [trading as ROLLEIWERKE FRANKE & HEIDECKE.] Oct. 4, 1962 [Oct. 7, 1961], No. 37586/62. Heading G2A. In a viewfinder of a single lens or twin-lens reflex camera, there is a convex lens and a negative lens separated by an air gap, the air gap being at least 3% of the focal length of the eyepiece formed by the convex and negative lens, the negative focal length of the negative lens being 0.4 to 0.5 times the focal length of the total focal length of the eyepiece and the radius of curvature of the convex lens on the eye side being at least equal to the focal length of the eyepiece. In the example, the focal length of the eyepiece is 152 mm, the negative focal length of the negative lens is 74 mm, the airgap is 5. 8 mm and the radius of curvature of the convex lens on the eye side is 167. 67 mm. As shown, the magnifying lens L 1 is a planoconvex lens cemented to the pentaprism P and the eyepiece in an interchangeable mounting comprises a biconcave lens L 2 of fluent glass and a biconvex lens L 3 of crown glass. Alternatively lens L 2 may be plenoconcave, the plane surface being cemented to the emergent surface of the pestaprism.
