Abstract

822,044. Control of A.C. motors. BRONIEWSKI, B. Aug. 17, 1956 [Aug. 19, 1955], No. 25165/56. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] The rotor winding R of an induction machine which may operate as a motor or a generator, is connected to a bridge P1 consisting of gridcontrolled rectifiers a-f which are adapted to deliver current to or receive current from a second bridge P11. The latter consists of gridcontrolled rectifiers g-l which are connected to the supply system Ra. An inductance L for limiting the ripple-current is inserted between the two bridges. Regulation of the speed or torque of the machine is effected by phase-shift control of the rectifiers. Thus, the speed of the machine, when it operates as a motor, may be varied above and below synchronism by phase shift control of the rectifier bridge P1. The bridge P11 may be controlled to maintain the rotor current constant and adjustable at will. In another arrangement, the supply system is connected to the rotor, and the stator to the bridge of controlled rectifiers.
