Abstract
821,403. Ventilation. PELLIZZETTI, I. Feb. 5, 1958 [July 25, 1957; Aug. 9, 1957], No. 3737/58. Class 137 A cold air supply for a motor vehicle comprises an auxiliary internal combustion engine driving a compressor for a refrigerating fluid and the impellers of a condenser and an evaporator. As shown, an internal combustion engine 1 has a shaft 2 connected at one end to the impeller 3 of a condenser 4 and at the other end, through a hydraulic coupling 5 to a compressor 6. A fan 10 driven by a belt 8 from a pulley 7 on the shaft 2 draws air through an evaporator 11 and discharges it through a hose to a diffuser situated in the passenger space of the vehicle. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the auxiliary engine may drive a generator the current from which drives the motors of the compressor and the impellers of the condenser and evaporator. The auxiliary engine may be operated by a manual switch and a thermostatic device in the passenger space.
