Abstract
821,338. Jib cranes. BUCKLEY, MYERS & TAYLOR Ltd. Aug. 28, 1957 [Sept. 14, 1956], No. 28113/56. Class 78 (4). A jib crane mounted on a vehicle comprises a tie a of fixed length and an extensible post c pivoted to the vehicle at b, d and to each other at their upper ends. A rope f carrying a hook g passes over a pulley e at the upper end of the piston-rod of ram c and is anchored at d so that as the jib is lowered the hook drops to the position indicated in chain lines. Alternatively the rope may pass over a further pulley at d and be anchored near the pulley e. The ram c may be replaced by a screw and nut or other extending device. The crane may form a unit adapted to be fitted on to the vehicle and coupled to the power unit which drives the vehicle.
