Abstract
<PICT:0821327/IV(c)/1> <PICT:0821327/IV(c)/2> A washing of dyeing machine for loose fibres, yarns, &c., comprises a vat 1 containing treatment liquid, Fig. 1, in which there is totally or partly immersed a perforated and rotatable drum 2, an aperture 15 in the drum to which a suction pump is connected, fibre supply and take-off conveyers 9, 10, rollers 5, 14 mutually displaceable as arrowed, fibre guide plates 20, 21, and perforated pipes 16-19 through which the purified, heated, &c. liquid is re-circulated to the vat, the rollers 4, 14 and 5 acting also as pressing rollers. In a modification the roller 14 may be replaced by a perforated belt 25 passing over a tensioning roller 26. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the drum is only partly immersed and the suction pump lowers the level of the liquid within the drum to a level below that of the liquid in the vat, the liquid being returned to the vat through a sieve (shown dotted) at the bottom of the vat and extending right across it. One end of the drum 31 rotates around a fixed end-plate, Fig. 4 (not shown), through which plate the pump connection is made and the roller 34 may be perforated and connected to suction. Several drums rotating at different speeds and being spaced apart by perforated rollers may however be used in a single vat.
