232,177. Marville, J. L., and Mairesse, G. G. U. M. April 11, 1924, [Convention date]. Circulating or passing materials through fluids and fluid-applying apparatus.-In a machine for the washing, soaping and like treatment of fabrics, yarn, lace, embroideries, &c., the material is passed repeatedly and alternately through liquid in a trough and then between pairs of smooth-faced squeezing rollers to which are given a relative axial reciprocating movement so as to effect a rubbing together of the parts of the material passing between them. The several pairs of squeezing rollers may be mounted above the trough c as shown in Fig. 2, with intermediate immersion rollers e; or the material may be arranged in a plurality of slack loops d, Fig. 3, suspended from the lower soueezing roller and arranged to dip into the liquid; or the material may be carried through the troughs and up to the squeezing rollers by means of conveyers f, as shown in Fig. 4.
