Abstract

819,623. Branch conduit connections. MANTIS A. B. Dec. 10, 1957 [Jan. 8, 1957], No. 38395/57. Class 99(1). A branch conduit 3 particularly for use in automatic milking plants is connected to a lateral port 2 in a main conduit 1 containing medium either under pressure or a vacuum, by an end piece 11 having a lateral outlet through a passage 7 in a block 4 clamped to the main conduit 1. A valve body 9 is pivoted to the block 4 by a pin 8 and slides across a plain surface 6 to close or open the passage 7 by movement of the end piece 11 which is also pivoted at 8 and slides across the surface 6 so that the passage 7 may register with its lateral outlet. The body 9 is pivoted at 8 by an apertured lug 10 recessed to permit engagement over it of the end piece 11 which is complementarily recessed so that the valve body 9 partakes in movement of the end piece 11. In the normal position, Fig. 3 the passage 7 is closed by the valve body 9 maintained in position by a flexible strap 19 and the end piece is engaged over the pivot 8 and pushed clockwise to the operating position, Fig. 1, movement being limited by the valve body 9 striking one side arm 20 of the flexible strap 19. On disconnection, counter-clockwise movement of the end piece 11 is limited by a lateral stop 17, the valve body 9 being drawn after it and closing the passsage 7 whereon the end piece 11 may be withdrawn off the spindle 8.
