Abstract
819,495. Filters. ZWICKY, J. F., and CHANDLER, D. E. Nov. 13, 1957 [Aug. 13, 1956], No. 24758/56. Class 46. A porous cylindrical filter tube 10, closed at one end is inserted with its open end in a resilient union or connector 11 whose other end is connected to a liquid supply tube or tap 11. A resilient tube 13 attached at one end to the union may surround the filter, and the filter may be cleaned either by reversing the device and attaching the lower end of the tube 13 to the tube or tap 12, or by reversing the position of the filter tube 10 in the union. The union 11 and tube 13 may be formed as a single member with the filter mounted in a constriction in this member. In a further modification a plurality of tubes are mounted on a plate in housing secured to the end of the union and cleaning is performed by reversing the filters in the plate, the plate and filters in the housing, or the plate, filters and housing in the union. In all cases a treatment medium may be included in the porous tube or in the housing surrounding the tube.
