Abstract
815,031. Draughting machines. HARGRAVE, H. April 1, 1957 [March 13, 1957], No. 8199/57. Class 97(3) A ruler is supported for parallel movement over a blackboard by a cable system passing round pulleys at the corners of the board, parts of the cable passing through flexible tubular housings which butt against adjustable end stops by which the cable tension may be adjusted. As shown in Fig. 8, the cable supports brackets 2, in which the ruler is pivotally mounted to be movable towards and away from the board, as well as balance weights 7 and passes round pulleys at 1, 3. Between the boxes containing the pulleys 3 the cable passes through flexible tubes which butt against the boxes and against end stops screw threaded, for axial adjustment, into tubular members 4. The two halves of the cable circuit may thus be independently adjusted for levelling the ruler initially. The brackets 2 carry rollers which bear on the blackboard and on the underside of a cover enclosing the cable and balance weights.
