Abstract

812,016. Tools for removing articles from shafts. KLEINBONGARTZ, A., and KAISER, E. [trading as KLEINBONGARTZ & KAISER]. May 12, 1956, No. 14852/56. Class 61. In a tool for pulling bearings, collars and other components from shafts and other members comprising a central annular body member, two or more outwardly extending supporting arms each of which carried a pulling arm, and a pressure applying member 10 capable of relative movement with respect to the body, each pulling arm is adjustable in length. The body member comprises a tubular part 14 and a disc part 13 having a screwed aperture to engage with the screw thread on the member 10. The supporting arms 15 are of T-section and are secured to the body part 14 by welding. Each pulling arm has a T-shaped slot to allow sliding along the flange of the corresponding arm 15. Each pulling arm comprises a hollow guide member 16 and a sliding claw. 28 secured in adjusted position by a pair of bolts 27 which are passed through holes in the arms 16 and selected holes 29 of a series provided in the arms 28. In a modification Fig. 2, the sliding claw has a hole 23 and two lateral projections 24, the hole being engaged by a bolt 25, Fig. 3 (not shown), which is selectively engaged in holes provided in the guide, the lateral projections being adapted to engage with corresponding slots in the guide. The tool may be operated hydraulically or mechanically.
