Abstract

672,390. Extractors for press-fitted ball bearings &c. SCHREM, A. March 15, 1950 [March 24, 1949; Aug. 2, 1949], No. 6449/50. Class 61 (iii). A tool for withdrawing press fitted ball bearings or other parts from their seatings comprises a screw spindle b, Figs. 1, 12, having a screw threaded transverse member d pivotally connected to articulated members e, f which in the disengaged position of the tool are inclined to each other and to the longitudinal axis of the spindle, the members f being provided with gripping members or claws i so that the ball bearing &c. may be removed by the straightening of the members e, f, under the thrust of the point c of the spindle on rotation against the end of the part from which the bearing &c. is to be removed. The members f, Fig. 1, are double armed levers pivoted at g to a transverse member h freely mounted on the spindle and whose set position is determined by a nut k to adjust the gap between the claws i. In a modification the transverse member h is threaded on a sleeve bearing at its upper end on the transverse member d, the spindle passing freely through the sleeve. The claws may be pivoted on the members f and locked by stop pins. Fig. 12 shows. withdrawal by internal grip, the members f having heel portions g' to limit the angular movement of the members f, the links e carrying these members being pivoted to studs 5 bolted in selected apertures in a circular transverse member d.
