809,932. Attachments for drilling, milling, &c. MERIOT, M. R., and MERIOT, M. L. Jan. 12, 1956 [Jan. 12, 1955], No. 1172/56. Class 83 (3). An attachment for rotating a chuck 16 at a higher speed than the spindle speed of a drilling, milling, &c. machine-tool comprises a step-up planetary gear in which the planet-wheels 6 drive a central gear 11 on the chuck-shaft 12. The chuck 16, in bearings 19 in a taper-socket 1 secured in the machine-tool spindle 20 by a screw-threaded sleeve 3 which rotates with the spindle, has a polygonal recess to receive the end of the driving-shaft 12. The sleeve forms a driving carrier for the planet wheels, which are freely mounted on pins 7 in the cupped-end 4 of the sleeve and also engage an internallytoothed ring 8 in the gear casing 9, 9a, which is attached to a fixed part of the machine, to prevent it from rotating.
