Abstract

806,489. Pipe couplings. EXACTOR Ltd. May 21, 1957 [May 30, 1956], No. 16793/56. Class 99(1). In a spigot and socket pipe coupling the end of the spigot 1 is covered by a V-shaped rubber sealing ring 7 the apex of which seats on a flat rubber washer 10 carried by a spring-loaded valve 4 in the socket 2. The spigot and socket are held coupled by any known readily disconnectible means such as a screwed collar, and the valve 4 is lifted from a fixed seat 14 in the socket part 2 by the spigot 1 during connection of the coupling. The valve 4 is sealed to the socket 2 by a cup-washer 6.
